Weiler International Electronics Pvt. Ltd. (WIE) is subsidiary of DIGISOUND-Electronic GmbH a German multinational and market leader in Acoustic Products in Europe. In January 1998 WIE acquired ‘Electronics Division’ of UB Engineering Ltd. To set up its operations in India. WIE has sister concerns in Ireland and Hong Kong.

WIE is the pioneer and market leader in Thick Film Hybrid Micro-Circuits in India. Its world class plant located at Shirwal near Pune meets exacting standards of MIL STD 883 and 1772. Quality Management Systems at WIE are certified for ISO 9001. With the decade of R&D efforts, WIE has established capabilities in high-tech electronic manufacturing for critical applications. WIE has a strong and committed team of over 200 employees, out of which over 40 are engineers with experience ranging from 5-25 years. WIE enjoys reputation of technical excellence in Indian Market place and has strong market position in served market segments.

The new management was able to steer the company to a convincing financial turn around in the first year itself. This was a result of strong sales growth achieved through high level of customer orientation in the company. Various initiatives in enhancing productivity, smart commercial executions and creation of momentum in operations helped to couple this sales growth with profit growth. Performance driven culture established through innovative bonus schemes catalysed the process.

WIE is committed to achieve leadership in electronic business in India. Hence business of WIE is conceptualised and defined as ‘Providing Solutions in Electronic Circuit Manufacturing and Electronic Sound Applications’. A business plan ensuring CAGR of 30% was firmed up as result of this. To facilitate this growth ‘SBU’ (Strategic Business Units) structure for the organisation was implemented. Hence from single Product Company, WIE was transformed in three SBUs namely ‘Hybrid & Contract manufacturing’, ‘Hi-Rel Business’ and ‘Acoustic Business’ as three pillars for business.

In year 1999, WIE launched its Acoustic business for domestic and export market. With the help of in-house developed piezo technology, WIE has emerged as dominant player in domestic market in piezo based transducers. A range of electronic sirens has been developed for international markets and necessary quality approvals have been obtained. Expertise in both product segments form core competence areas for the group. Exports have commenced and are expected to rise rapidly in next two years.

Beginning year 2000, WIE entered into strategic partnership with DEG (Deutsche Investitions und Entwicklungsgesellschaft GmbH) who has made investments in the form equity and term loans. New Millenium initiatives include launch of ERP project using SAP-R/3 software as a vehicle for ‘Business Process Re-engineering’ and so also for improving velocity of business. Simultaneously, Contract Manufacturing project is kicked off with investments in two ‘Surface Mount’ production lines.
